...........
Attendance: Lucia, Mihai, Yoshito, Rodolfo. We have quorum.
==========
Agenda:
Administration
R: I move to approve June 3, meeting minutes – https://groups.oasis-open.org/discussion/meeting-minutes-19
M: I second.
R: Meeting minutes approved.
Charter clarification.
L: As you might have seen, I have sent an email to the mailing list including the minor changes that we discussed during the last meeting. I have created a document where those changes are highlighted and justified. The changes are minor.
We need to have a vote to ask the OASIS administrator to create an electronic ballot to vote on the charter clarification.
Roll call: do you agree to inform the OASIS administration to start to process of the charter clarification based on the document sent to the mailing list: https://groups.oasis-open.org/discussion/charter-clarification-draft
Yes: Mihai, Yoshito, Rodolfo, Lucia.
L: thank you, the motion passes. I will contact the OASIS Administrator to initiate the process.
Technical
XLIFF 2.2. Committee Specification.
https://docs.oasis-open.org/xliff/xliff-core/v2.2/cs01/xliff-core-v2.2-cs01-part1.html
Promotion activities of the new version.
R: Webpage updates. We have updated the content of the homepage. (Rodolfo explains the update changes).
L: That is great, thank you, Rodolfo. The FAQ section needs to be updated, Rodolfo and I will taker care of it when we will have the time.
Webinar.
M: I have prepared the slides. You can comment on them.
R: I saw them and I liked them.
Y: We can copy this information in the other. This is an interesting topic in itself. I think this could be used as an isolated material.
R: instead of a live webinar, we can do a recording. So we can have it recorded.
M: Personally I prefer do it live. But if it is to be consumed offline, I can add the presenter notes.
Y: Do you want to have a live webinar? If there are questions from the audience, this modality will be better.
R:if we do live or recording, we can store the material afterwards. The live one, will require extra preparation.
Y: If we go for live, we need more preparation.
M: In my case, it is the opposite. If I record, I might need to do it multiple times until I would be happy with the recording.
L: Do you have any preferences?
M: I have a slight preference for live.
L: I can prepare a doodle with the Tuesdays in September, so we can take a decision on the next meeting.
M: Do you have OASIS templates from previous events?
L: I can ask the OASIS administrator to see if this type of material is available.
Revisit the test suite topic: https://github.com/oasis-tcs/xliff-xliff-22/tree/master/xliff-21/test-suite
R:If anybody wants to work on this.
Y: I will work on this.
L: Thank you Yoshito.
New translation memory standard. https://github.com/oasis-tcs/xliff-xliff-22/tree/master/memory
R: I took the OASIS template for notes and extras. I filled just some general information. The rest is empty. I created a folder called "memory" in the github repository. This is markdown. We have the Template of the OASIS (which includes some instructions at the beginning). We can generate a HTML and pdf from this.
R: What do you think about the title?
L: We can use what I defined in the charter: best practices for using XLIFF as a translation memory.
R: We can have also a title and a subtitle. I can start writing slowly.
M: I think the value is for exchange.
R: I was also considering, for example, we can consider that it can be used for semantic search using LLMs.
Y: when you say translation memory, it can mean different things in the industry. The basic use is to store and exchange information.
R: This is an additional use. It can also be used for authoring.
Y: the discussion takes us to whether we want to use the term exchange.
R: I was reading comments from what happened in TAUS meeting, and they were talking about metadata that XLIFF has but TMX does not.
Y: in the current title what I do not like is the term "store".
L: Use XLIFF as a translation memory.
Y: XLIFF translation memory.
R: or XLIFF as translation memory, or XLIFF for translation memory. We still need to define concepts as translation memory.
New business
L: We can also take this opportunity (charter clarification) to vote on the renewal of the co-chairs. Yoshito, do you want to continue on this role?
Y: I do, I can back you up.
L: If anybody wants to appoint themselves to take that position, let us know.
R: I think you are both doing a good job.
M: I agree.
L: Thank you. Roll call: Do you all agree on renewing the current co-chairs of the XLIFF TC (Yoshito and Lucia)?
Yes: Rodolfo, Mihai, Yoshito, Lucia.
L: Thank you for your confidence.
L: No new business. Meeting adjourned.
