  • 1.  Metadata discussion

    Posted 20 days ago

    Dear all,

As promised, and to provide a starting point for the metadata discussion, I am sending you this message with information based on my previous research and further analysis I have done on the current version.

To give you a bit of context, my doctoral thesis (defended in 2012) investigated whether provenance information that can be added to a translation suggestion (for example, the name of the original translator or the creation date) had any impact on the translator's work.

During the first phase of the research, I studied the XLIFF 1.2 specification in detail and selected those attributes that could include potentially relevant localisation metadata. Below, you will find the section of my thesis where this analysis is described, as well as the tables summarising the results in an organised way.

I have carried out a similar analysis with the new version and adapted the tables accordingly (see below).

What I find most curious about the analysis of the new specification is that there is no attribute that allows us to include temporal information (e.g., date). I would love to hear your thoughts on this matter.

    See you on Tuesday,

    Lucía
