  • 1.  Motion for Open Repositories for the Rust and Go STIX API

    Posted 03-25-2025 13:54

    Hi all,

MITRE has been asked by DHS/CISA to implement both a Rust and Go STIX API.  These APIs mimic the Python STIX API available at https://github.com/oasis-open/cti-python-stix2.

This needs the approval of the TC.

We hope that others find it useful and will contribute to the project.

See below for a detailed description of this proposed repositories and some policy questions and answers.

I move that the TC approve by unanimous consent requesting OASIS to set up two OASIS Open Repository projects named cti-go-stix and cti-rust-stix using the following pieces of information :

Purpose Statement: Share both a Rust and Go STIX API MVP.

Initial Maintainers: Rich Piazza, Marlon Taylor

    Open Source License: BSD-3-Clause License

    GitHub Name: cti-go-stix and cti-rust-stix

    Short Description:

OASIS Go STIX API and OASIS Rust STIX API: repositories containing the MVP implementation of Rust and Go STIX APIs

If there have been no objections before
Monday March 28 at 21:00 UTC (5:00 PM EST), I will submit the form [1] to ask OASIS to create the repositories.

    Thank you,
    Rich Piazza

I obviously fully support this. Moving beyond Python is critical and Rust and Go is where everything is moving industry wide. Plus I already started a Go version of STIX years ago that you could use and just add to. I may even be willing to spend more time on it if I was not the only one.
