  • 1.  Question about titles in example

    Posted 06-28-2024 14:54
    Hi everyone,

As some of you may remember ... the original definitions of <section> and <example> were identical. In the DTD, they even used the same content model (both set the parameter "section.cnt" as the content model). This means that, from DITA 1.0, both have allowed any number of titles.

This is an artifact of DTD rules; because allow text in sections, we cannot mandate "one optional title" or "title must come first".

For 2.0 drafts (already reviewed), we more clearly state that it is a content error for section to have more than one title.

The question: should we say the same for example? I think yes, as we've always treated it as a section (and in fact describe it as "a section" in the 1.3 text).

    Thanks,
    Robert

I agree that <example> should have the same rules for <title> as <section>: At most one, must be first element child of <example>.

    Cheers,
