    Greetings!

I have been wrestling with the paragraph beginning:

    • "Sort_index: First, the column or row of Data_source that is at the index specific"

and I think its central problem is that it is trying to do too many things.

    My suggested rewrite for it:

"Sort_index: The Sort_index specifies the rows or columns to be sorted and their sort orders."

If we want to further define sorting behavior, let's do that in a separate paragraph.

    Thoughts?

Hope everyone is having a great week!

Your diagnose "that it is trying to do too many things" is correct. I have started now with your proposed sentence but without "and their sort orders". The term "sort orders" here is to near to the parameter name "Sort_order".

I have replaced the part that describes sorting using an array of indices with the term "multi-level sort". When I look at the Google search result for "multi-level sort" it seems to me that there is a common sense of the meaning. Thus we need not specify it in detail.

In the meantime I have noticed some more problems. So you will find a lot a new comments and I have added some "Note" sections.

I had hoped that standardizing the SORT function would be easier than with the XLOOKUP function. I think I was wrong.

    Regina,

On SORT function being easier than XLOOKUP, I just glad we are talking
about spreadsheets and not the more complex sorting that goes on in the
humanities. It's the stuff of nightmares.

Will try to look at the new draft before this weekend.

Hope you are having a great week!
