I agree with you, Kenneth, with the only one-word edit being changing "an XML processor that doesn't normalize normalizedString is not conformant" to be "an XML application that doesn't normalize normalizedString is not conformant". The XML processor in an XSLT processor (or any other raw XML task) will convert the end-of-line sequences to line feeds, not spaces.
